Trend changes pretty quickly and you have to act fast whenever there is a lucrative opportunity waiting for you to exploit. Past 2 years, paid blogging has been lucrative enough that I have seen people making five figure income by just selling reviews and paid posts. With Google’s new move to penalize these sites, trend in the blogosphere has totally changed. Any blog which participates in link sales or writing paid posts would have their PR stripped off their blog.
Nevertheless, there are several ways to make money online and this can be categorized into make money online with or without a blog (Yes you can make money online even though you don’t have a blog)
But I would like to focus your attention into making money online by creating a successful blog or website which would eventually turn into a cash cow and generate a stable online income even when you don’t frequently update it anymore.
Here are several steps which will provide you with a brief guideline to help you start building a blog:
Tips Number 1: Get a domain name – This is very important as it projects your personality to your readers. If you are serious in making money online, don’t ever use free domain names from Blogspot, WordPress or any other free blogging services. Not only you get lower offers from advertisers, your domain name is harder to remember and it doesn’t have a resale value – or at least a low resale value.
Two things that you should seriously consider when getting your domain name:
i.Get a domain name which is your name – I noticed a domain name which is your name generally attracts more buzz. An excellent example is JohnChow.com – he created a brand out of his own name and if you check Alexa, his site has tremendous traffic! It is easy to remember and it projects your personality to your readers. Generally, your blog attracts people who are like-minded and they will most definitely remember your name.
Disadvantage: No resale value – nobody would want to purchase a domain name which is your name. John Woo wouldn’t want a domain name which spells MichaelWoo.net right?
ii. Get a domain name which is not your name – By all means pick either a two word or at most a three word domain name. Avoid using ‘The’ or ‘My’ in front of your domain name. Also, pick one which ends with either .com or .net for search engine optimization purposes. Your domain name does influence search results from search engines. For example, imagine having a site which has a domain name such as below:
Domain name: MakeMoneyOnline.com, Title: Make Money Online
Domain name: Online-Stopwatch.com, Title: Online Stopwatch
Domain name: Adsense-Secrets.com, Title: Google Adsense Secrets
If you develop these sites carefully, high chances you can capture high amount of search engine traffic from Google. Porn.com was sold for a record $10 million dollars and Sit.com comes with a hefty price tag of $500,000 dollars.
Disadvantage: It’s pretty rare to get one, two or three word domains as majority of these domains are registered.

1. You get a free web hosting account
2. You can point your domain name to Blogspot by using the DNS services
3. You can sell your domain name easily by using Domain Aftermarket services
4. If you purchase in bulk – you get bulk purchase prices
5. If you decide to get your own web hosting services, GoDaddy has discounts if you pay 1 year in advance (get up to 30% discount for 2 years of web hosting services)
On the other hand, you can also purchase registered domain names using

Apart from being busy designing the new home, I have completed more reviews on SponsoredReviews compared to PayPerPost, Smorty and ReviewMe combined all together. I believe many felt a huge pinch from Google – after their move to penalize sites selling Text Link Ads and PayPerPost. SponsoredReviews served as a great alternative as everyone gets a fair chance in bidding for paid jobs.

Here are some tips on how to get your bids accepted by advertisers:
 1. PR3/4 and above would get better offers – if you bid in the region of $15-$40. I get bids easily accepted even when I bid $30 for the paid post on my PR4 blog.
2. If your blog has PR0 – don’t worry! You still can bid $5-$10 per assignment and you still have high chances of approval (You split 65-35 with SponsoredReviews)
3. Some advertisers are pretty particular and would visit your blog to see what it is all about – Tips: – write a post similar to your advertiser’s blog category needs, so when they visit, they’ll be happy to see what you have to offer
4. Write an appropriate title and description for your blog – if it focuses on IT, write something like ‘Games Review, IT Gadget Reviews, PC Technology, etc…’ Advertisers look at your blog’s title to see whether it suits their needs. For example, if they want an IT blog but your blog title states ‘Hoola hoop girls’ – it would be shot down instantly
5. Set a competitive public price – I have advertisers who purchase reviews straight off my blog through SponsoredReviews. If you have a blog with PR3/4 and you set your public price in the region of $20-$30, high chances the advertiser would purchase a review from you
6. If you look closely at the list of advertisers, some are repeat advertisers – If you write good reviews for them, they would gladly accept your future bids. Tips: – Try putting some screenshots and pictures
7. Recently there is an advertiser who keeps flooding the marketplace with requests for gambling sites. If I’m not mistaken, there are more than 30-40 requests – so if you have a site which reviews gambling site, now is the chance for you to make lots of money! The opportunity pays $10-$20 for a 200 words article
8. Earn from Referrals:
Last but not least, I find it easier to earn referral fees from SponsoredReviews compared to PayPerPost and Text Link Ads. Last month, I have over 10 signups for SponsoredReviews, compared to 1 for Text Link Ads and 3 for PayPerPost.

Past few days, I have been busy planning how to remodel my new home that me and my brother bought for a whopping RM525,000 ($158,000USD). I think we bought the house at a bargained price as normally a 4,400 square feet home around KL would cost more than half a million – in the region of 600k-800k ish. A bungalow lot on the other hand reaches millions.
I used to play The Sims many years back and I believe it is a good software/game to give you a rough idea on how you should remodel your home. I came up with this design –
What I like the most in this design is the front entrance – there would be two solid doors with oval glass in the middle while another two 7-8 feet glass panels would be located at both sides of the door. The glass panels would have nice wrought iron with flower designs and it will look simply stunning at night! Remodeling the house would cost another $280,000 on top of the money that we have paid for the house.

I finally received my Adsense payment through Western Union. Normally I would go through Maybank and let them charge me high rates for depositing a foreign check – not to mention I had to wait more than 1 month for the check to clear. Maybank would charge me $10USD to process the check and another 10% as agent fees (whoever the agent was, they sure made a lot of money from me).
This time, I changed my payment options to Western Union Quick Cash. To change your payment options go to My Account > Account Settings > Edit Payment Details. To check whether they have issued your payment, go to My Account > Payment History and browse to the month that you are supposed to receive your payment. Click on the Payment Details and you’ll get info on your payment such as
1. Payment Type
2. Payment Date
3. Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN)
4. Payment Amount
Your payment is ready for collection one day after the payment date. For those who live in Malaysia, you have to remember that US time is roughly 12 hours back – so to be safe, give it 2 days from the payment date before withdrawing your money.
When going to the bank or post office or any Western Union agent, note down:
1. Amount of your payment
2. MTCN
3. Bring your IC
4. Sender’s info/address, such as below

I withdrew my money at CIMB bank in Subang Jaya. Remember to search for the Western Union form located together with other application forms such as bank-in slip, loan, etc… The Western Union form has a bright yellow header.
Simply fill in your details, contact number, address and Google’s info as well as the amount of payment. Please note in the Western Union form at the name section, you will need to fill in your First Name (Nama Depan) and Last Name (Nama Belakang). According to the clerk, the first name should be your surname – like mine, Woo (Google put it that way). Get a number from the machine – there would be an option for Western Union.

This is a PayPerClick network whereby there have adult ads available on their network (you can toggle ON/OFF at the adult filter option)
Cost per click can range from $0.01 up to $2 (you share 50/50 profit). You can also make 5% for a lifetime from the referrals referred under you.
