Adsense or Private Ads Sales More Profitable? |

In the past I’ve seen people sucking up to Google Adsense saying how much money they have made over this simple mechanism. However, I notice many high profile sites have begun to throw Adsense out the window and start selling their own ads.
For example, John Chow from JohnChow.com previously earned $600 a month from 3 Adsense slots. Now he’s making $7,000 on his private ads sale which is 12 times more than what he was earning from Adsense. See how he places his private ads slots on his site:
Darren Rowse from Problogger.net who is apparently a ‘pro’ Adsense guy ditched the PPC network for his own private ads sale. His reasons? You can watch one of his videos saying why he ditched Adsense ‘for a number of reasons’. The image below shows uncanny resemblance with John Chow’s site.
TechCrunch.com is the champion of all. Their private ads sale surpasses anything that I have ever seen. Each 125x125 box is selling for $10,000 per month. And yet, I still see one Adsense slot below all the advertisements. I wonder how much they earn from this single slot.
If you didn’t watch Darren’s video – the reason is simple.
1. Adsense doesn’t work on making money sites as visitors are more aware of ‘not clicking on your Adsense ads’
2. Advertisers complained that Adsense actually cheapens your site
3. Private ads are more profitable as it doesn’t really count on how many clicks that you could divert to the advertisers and yet you still get paid monthly
Cheers!
